Creating designs using binding (tie-dye)
and stitching (amarra) techniques Nico,
Erico, and Mafalda prepare natural
fiber clothing and fabrics for molecular
bonding dye application ,
Mama Luna demonstrates the dye
application process.to Erika and
Mafalda. Salts in the dyes open the
molecules in the fabric and dye goes
in by osmosis. The box of dyes has a
lid to keep the cat out, but he gets in
to guard the dyes.
Nico and Andre start the day
with a song before we rinse
out the excess dyes from the
fabric, closing the molecules,
leaving the color inside.
The morning sun lights
up the finished work as
it drys. Nico admires
the colors!
The dyed projects are set aside
to dry.. The cat makes sure the
wind does not blow the dyed skirt
away!
